I did it!

I am actually sitting in the library doing research for get this... wait for it... TWO PAPERS!!!! I figured seems that I was done early with one of my midterms that I would actually be productive and get some researching done! I feel so great about this. I am actually going to have enough stuff to write a 15 page paper on the history, gender aspects, and ethnic aspects of the Canadian Immigration Act! I have ordered something like 15 books of the U of A law library to get started!! Plus I have found some journal articles to juice it up!!! Yeahhhhhhh I am sooo happy!!

The other paper I have yet to finish researching. I am thinking of doing it on sleep because it seems that I always obssess about it all the time. I swear if I didn't have my husband that is all that I would do, besides reading in bed!!!

Other good stuff is happening too. I finally got my wedding invitations, so I have sent off all the urgent ones to Europe and I will probably end up getting the rest of them done here this weekend, that is if I am not busy enough with the HUGE ASS midterm that I have due next week, after getting another week extention, even though we were supposed to get two weeks to work on the fuckin thing anyways!!

But I better get back to what I am supposed to be doing, plus I still gotta drive home tonight!

And so the countdown to Vancouver 2010 begins!!!

So according to the CBC there are 1446 days to go! I am really excited. I don't remember much from the 1988 Olympics in Calgary. All I remember is that we got the day off of school when the torch relay came to town. I remember being at my boyfriend Russell Crumley's house during the opening ceremonies, Elizabeth Manley winning the sliver medal in figure skating, and being scooted off to bed trying to watch the closing ceremony! So this time I want to make the most of it!! This ladies and gentlemen could get very very interesting!! OHHHH I'M GIDDY!!!

SWEDEN WINS GOLD IN HOCKEY!!!!!

I, just like every other Canadian is shocked that the Canadian were shut out of the medal rounds of hockey. Although from what I seen the only real effort that they put in was the game against Russia and they still got their ass kicked.

Anyways...

I am pretty happy that Sweden won the gold in hockey. Not only does it make my husband a very happy man, and a happy man is easier to deal with than one who has a major pout on, but it makes my brother-in-law in Finland whine!! This is irony at it's best! He is one of the minority of Finns, he is a Swedish speaking Finn. They are a dying breed in Finland. You would think that because he speaks Swedish that we would identify more with the Swedes; nope other than the Swedish speaking branch of the Finnish military he totally identifies with the Finns. Oh well at least I know I have a happy husband!

Trying to find just one ounce of motivation!

My motivation this year has gone out the window and has flown away. For all I know it could be on some island in the South Pacific enjoying the beach and sunshine.

I had this week off from school and so far the only things that I have done is study for one of my midterms and get ready for a presentation next week. That's it. I have two article reviews and 4 midterm papers still to write and the only thing that I am doing right resting comfortably in my bed. That's right because I decided to work 5 days this week I have totally worn myself out and I cannot muster enough energy to get out of bed and get something accomplished. I only have five more months of school left to complete and then I will have my degree.

I can do it. I CAN DO IT!

Anyone up for a Timmy's in Afganistan!?!

So I was watching The National on the CBC tonight ( yeah I know I am actually watching the CBC!)and they had a story about how with the new government, there is an increased (uh duh!) likelihood that our mediocre military is going to get some funds. Now I do have some opinions on this one. The military has had an absolutely horrible habit of wasting money. My parents have many stories from their years of working at the old CFB Penhold. But more recently was the fire on the made-over British submarine that caught fire and please forgive me for not putting it here but I can't spell worth a shit right now!
Anyways the head honcho of the military is coming up with a shopping list that he is going to take to our fuck head Prime Minister (see, didn't mention his name!) of ours. It's the usual stuff, some helicopters and tanks, BUT A TIM HORTON'S IN AFGANISTAN!?!?!?!?!?

Yeah I think that I am going to leave it here...

The chruch mouse gets a backbone!

There is a girl at work who, god bless her, is devoted to her faith deeeeeeeeeeeeply. She's the sweetest little thing. I honestly thought that when I first met her that she would be the most frigid person on the face of the earth, there are still some days that I think so. But today! THE GIRL GREW A BACKBONE!!!! Some of the old bitches at work really rag on the poor thing because she is still so naive to alot of the stuff that she is subjected to (ie: the mile-high club). But oh my I can't wait for the day when she says something to the Queen Bitch. Oh my oh my to be a fly on the wall!

The reason why reality television will not last!

I am watching The Bachelor right now, and lets face it there is a reason why some of these people are single. Oh my gosh, if my friends caught me doing something like that I am sure that they would kick me in the ass and say "hello!" I really enjoyed The Real World, yeah it was something of a simple social experiment, I can understand that hell I enjoy it. Big Brother is another one too, it's more social experiement than a power stuggle, and even then that doesn't seem desparate as what some of these women are!

It's snowing!

I love it! It's driving kaos out there. Accidents everywhere because people were dumb enough to not take the proper precautions when it comes to driving in adverse weather conditions!

Therefore I have devised a list of helpful tips to help you all out:
1. Make sure that you are driving for the weather conditions, if it looks like the pavement is wet assume that there is also ice on the pavement because chances are it is.
2. Wear your seatbelt. I seen an accident last year where someone died from not wearing their seatbelt. She was thrown 20 meters from her truck when it was stuck by a greyhound bus! I WATCHED HER DIE!!!!!! WEAR YOUR FUCKIN SEAT BELT!!!
3. Make sure that your tires are not all season tires, winter is not all season, and neither should your tires be. (Very important Finnish winter surivial tip!)
4. Make sure that your cell phone is with you. This is the only reason why there should be a cell phone in your vehicle. This is so you can call 911, or a tow truck, not your brother Bobby to see what's he's up to.
5. Make sure that you radio works because OH MY GOD they just might have a traffic report on there, and guess what, they just might tell you that it is not worth it to be out there and to get the fuck off the roads because it's just not safe.
6. Turn off your cruise control, I don't know how many people do this but chances are there are a few out there so quit doing it!

There happy safe and fun winter driving everyone!!

GO CANADA GO!!!

So fuckin eh! Canada beat Sweden 4-1 in women's hockey today and that totally rocks and well now I have one up on my husband who is a Swede.

Oh ho hum!

Yeah nothing new going on. Just waiting for hubby to call me!

Friday, February 17, 2006

What a good day!

So I got up this morning dreading getting out of bed because last night before mom went to bed she told me that RBC called again. I was thinking oh great I get to spend another day on the phone talking to about 3 different people who don't know anything about doing their jobs. But they just called to tell me that they had finally gotten my file updated, and that I don't owe them anything. Which is nice because I really didn't want to go through the hassle of getting my mom to write them a cheque, but then again the Bank of Mom offers a rate that does not compare to any bank!

So after that I called my hubby because it seems like weeks since we talked (only a day or two) and it turns out that his mother is one step closer to booking the tickets for their trip this summer. That's nice because it would be nice to start putting in for holidays soon.

Then off to school, this was the only bad part of the day because the prof is a crackpot and we have been talking about the same thing for three days now! I think it is time to get on something different but then again judging by some of the dumbass questions that were asked it might be a few days longer. I swear that thinking logically for some people takes more brain power than what they are totally capable of!

So I went for lunch with one of the ladies that I work with, I say lady because she is only a few days older than my mom but is a hell of a lot of fun to be around with. Turns out that her step-daughter had to take a friend to the hospital and needer to someone to look after her daughter for a bit. Well that's ok. "Beaner", as what she is affectionately known as amongst her family, is a good kid anyways and did put up much of a fuss. So when her dad came to pick her up it was game on for lunch. We ended up going to Montana's. Absolutely delicious. And I was introduced to one sinful dessert, Deep-fried Cheesecake. OH MY GOD. This is a close substitute to sex!

So once I got my officially fat ass home, I turned on the TV to see that Canada had a very good day today at the Olympics. One gold, one silver, and one bronze, and we have secured another medal for women's hockey. This is fantastic!! Canada vs Sweden. Hubby get your hockey sticks out, we're gonna have some fun!

So my mom gets home and tells me a rather ironic story. My second cousin, who was born out of wedlock much to the dismay of her grandmother, who is my aunt (although not really anymore because she disowned my father, mother and I) just gave birth to a little girl. The irony is that she unmarried as well. I can just imagine what my aunt was saying. (BITCH!) And to think that my aunts on my dad's side were so concerned the first time that I went to Sweden thinking that I was going to go over there and get pregnant! I'm not going to say anything here because if I did I am pretty sure that my blog would be taken offline! Although congrats to my little cousin and hope that you recover well and fast, some slight complications right now but it should pass.

And last but not least my hubby called me again. He just got home from his little paper route. Fucking goddamn Swedish unemployment! Anyways it turns out that his sister and her boyfriend will show up about a week before my mother-in-law and father-in-law, and his sister and her boyfriend will depart shortly after the wedding, so that means that the full house won't seem as full for as long! And so it is off to bed because I am working a rare Saturday shift tomorrow and well this week is going to be long one because it is reading week, I have a huge list of things to do and to top it all off, I am also working an astonishing 5 shifts next week. I stole 3 shifts from one co-worker because nobody likes to work with her! Ha ha ha hahahahahahahahahaha ha ha hahahahahahahahahahaha ha haha haha hahaha!!

What a day for Canada!!

4 medals in one day. That has to be a record right??

It's freezing cold here and I have decided that it is just best to stay curled up in my chair with my dog.

Oh and I was told today that I have a fat ass!

Sitting through yet another boring library session!

There's one girl who just won't shut the fuck up!

It's snowing!!!!!!!!!!!

It's wonderful!!! You can't see anything out there, the road reports that are coming into the radio stations say that it is getting bad! I love days like these. Although I am a bit concerned at the moment because I am Red Deer at school until 9 tonight which means by that time the roads could be closed off and I am stuck here in the city. It's not as bad as what you might think, it just means a slumber party over at a co-worker's place but it means that I am screwed in terms of work because I don't have a uniform to wear. I guess I will have to call in hookey.

Now everything is white and so peaceful looking!

Just killin time!

So here I am stuck at school trying to study for my most boring Adult Cognitive Aging course. This stuff is so dry. The only true end conclusion is that yes we are going to get old, lose most cognitive functioning and if you are lucky enough you just might become blissfully ignorant to everything and walk around in the buff all day long! This could be why most of my mom's paitents are horny old farts who don't know any better!

Ok something has got to be said!

Ok I am not one to make comments about religion. I believe that it is a personal conviction and it is something that should not be forced upon other people. Here in Canada we do have a separation of church and state, and I think that alot of us here in Canada enjoy and respect this. However, it seems as though many in this country do not respect this and try to force the issue.

With that said brings me to this point: I am getting sick and tired of people freaking out over those cartoons! Two publications in Calgary are currently underfire for publishing them. It is to the point that some groups are harassing the Calgary Police Service to press hate crime charges.

It's not like I am going to call the police over an incident that happened to me in high school. According to their reasoning, I could have had my 10th grade english teacher arrested for harrassment charges for telling me that I was going to burn in hell because I refused to do the required reading, a book entitled the Chrysalids ( spell check?). Ironically enough when I see that teacher today I still get told that I am not worth that much and that I am going to hell in a hand basket.

I am not a person of deep religious conviction, I don't think that I ever will be because I think that organized religion is a hoax. Therefore it annoys me when I meet people who are sweet and caring, and fun people to be around, and then they make it their crusade to convert me. FORGET IT! IT AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN!

To those that have been insulted with these cartoons, remember that they are what they are, just a cartoon. It's not a statement that you should be ridiculed for who you are. You just happen to be in the same boat as the rest of us!

Conan Big In Finland

Ok I can't stand the guy. At one time it was the only late night show that I could find on Swedish television so I did occasionally watch it. But because he's been on holiday because of NBC's coverage of the Olympics he's headed off to Finland because he bears a close resemblanace (spell check please??) to the Finnish president. He's insisting that because it was him that got her re-elected that he should be made the Minister responsible for inspecting women's saunas.

I speak for the women of Finland, because my sister-in-law is Finnish, and say that I would want that freak checking me out. AHHHH

Hello My Name is Michelle...

and I am addicted to my statcounter!

Catching up with old friends

So I am in the process of making a guest list for the big party that I am putting on in celebration of Max and I finally taking the plunge and tying the knot. For the last couple of days I have been trying to get ahold of some friends of mine that I have lost contact over the number of years because they have moved away. Ironically enough the last time that I got ahold of them was to tell them that my father had passed away, and the last time I did that I had to phone someone else to get a phone number. Telus needs to update their records big time!

Anyways I am truly successful. Had a nice conversation, and I think somehow a road trip is in the works. Looks like my Impala is going to be getting alot of extra KM's in the next while because my aunt and uncle are giving me a rough time that I haven't come to see them either!

I seriously think that we should be able to switch to 36 hour days so that way I could get away with sleeping for 18 hours at a time and still have time to do stuff so I don't come off like I am a lazy bum!

My resume needs a makeover!

I had appointment today with the career councillor at school to see what I can do to land the job(s) that I want. It turns out that I need to makeover my resume. She also asked me a crucial question: what would I really like to do. I said something about doing something about helping Canadians backpack through Europe, or helping out immigrants here in the central Alberta area. So I am playing around with a few ideas.
So one more item to add to the list of things to do during reading week!

This happens alot actually. It always happens when big sporting events are going on. The World Cup, Olympics, tennis tournaments, baseball, football, cross country skiing, ski jumping, track and field... oh hell I could go on and on! This is the reason why we are going to be having at least two televisions in our house! The only way that I could possibly ever have leverage is that I could say that I feel neglected and get what ever I want out of him. Dinner out? Sure honey! Chocolates? Sure! Trip to Mexico? Sounds nice!! $19000 diamond ring? Bingo!!!! (Actually I'd rather have a nice down payment on a Stuga near Gothenburg!)

Sitting around and waiting for the snow!

According to the forecast this week winter is to return. It was here? Really? Here we have had the mildest winter ever! There is virtually no snow here in the praries, in the mountains the other hand they are having an absolutely wonderful winter, at least that is what I can tell from the pictures that I have seen from Sunshine Village!
Normally this time of the year I am gearing up for a really nice couple of days out in the mountains because of reading week but because I some how mysteriously hurt my knee when I was in Europe last fall I have been not allowed to ski this winter. Hope is around the corner, I have an MRI scheduled for the first part of March. Which may mean that I am going to have an appointment with a specialist as well and maybe I will have to have surgery too, which given where I have worked for the last year and a half, which scares me.

So here is hoping that it snows soon, because I am ready and waiting for it.

Sunday, February 12, 2006

Wow! Glad that is over!

Yesterday was a very long day for me. It didn't start off well because I didn't sleep well. Anyways I had to do some testing in Calgary yesterday, three tests within a nine hour period, I am surprised that I made it home in one piece yesterday. And then if I wasn't enough of a sucker for punishment I went out with some friends in Red Deer to Yuk Yuk's and Bellini's. And then I worked today as well. Yeah so right now I am pretty bleary eyed.

I'm on AlbertaBlogs!

I have signed up to be on AlbertaBlogs! It features those that live in Alberta, who have lived in Alberta, or wish that they lived in Alberta. It's pretty interesting. The variety of viewpoints is fresh and I am pretty happy that they let me join. So go ahead and check out some of the interesting blogs listed on the side. And special thanks once again to Aaron for hooking me up! It's people like him that help to keep blogging interesting.

Paper Topics

So reading week is fast approaching and I am sitting here wondering what on earth I am going to write for my papers coming due in a month to a month and a half's time ( i know, no use of proper grammar, but I am tired and well sorry but you gotta deal with it for the time being!) I feel so disconnected now that I can't come up with topics for some papers.

So here I go:

Brain and Behavior: something to do with sleep and circaidian rhythms, because well there is no better topic to talk about than sleep and how it is soooo good for you, almost better than food!

Cognitive Aging: yeah been to lots of classes have no idea what I want to write about this one, I'll be lucky to get enough information in my head to write the mid-term!

Sociology of Law: do I really need to beat the same-sex marriage issue in the ground, further than the six feet I have already buried it because to me this really is a non issue when it comes to Canadian law? I might go for something to do with Immigration. Right now though I still have to do 2 article reviews that were due last week. I love procrastinating, but don't tell my boss that!

Personality: ummm actually I don't need help with that one. The prof is a crack pot anyways, I am sure if I wrote it about my dog's personality I would still get an A! After all my dog has more personality than the average (shit I should be nice here!) __________________, there! Couldn't think of anything nice.

Tim Horton's Made Me Cry!!!

Ok I just got finished watching the opening ceremonies for the Olympics.

New Tim Horton's Commerical

For those who know me well, and I mean really well know that I can't watch too much tv or else I turn into a blubbering idiot. I have been since I was something like 4 and watched Old Yellow for the first time. If you ever get a chance to meet my mom she will tell you the story about that.

Anywhooo, there are somethings that I can't watch without getting all teary eyed. Extreme Home Makeover does it to me every Sunday. Well, there is a new commercial from Tim Hortons that got me "overclempt" so to speak. Some of you out there might have seen it. It is the one with the old asian guy and the young asian guy. Pretty much the premise is when the young guy was a child he was like any typical boy growing up in Canada he liked hockey. But the father was like "son, you must study" so anyways the years go by and the son is now at the hockey rink with his little guy watching the game when the old guy shows up with a double double. The son is like "what in the hell are you doing here" and the father is like "that's grandson right??" the son then says "you probably don't even remember what team I played for" and all the father does is pull out this old tattered picture of the son when he was a young little hockey player. Yeah here I go getting a new box of tissues!

So yeah, final conclusion... I love Tim Horton's, the commercials (the cross Canada one, the student overseas, the back packer), the coffee (extra large english toffee), doughnuts (vanilla dip), and sandwiches (turkey bacon club on whole wheat, not toasted). And if I ever win the lottery I am going to seriously look into getting a Tim Horton's franchise!

Turin Opening Ceremony!

I guess the nice thing about not working so much and only having one class on Fridays is that I can watch the opening ceremony live from Turino! It's kinda fun to watch although the did a salute to the alpine nations of Europe and they had these dancers doing the waltz in these rather funky dance costumes!! I am impressed but then again I like this sort of thing. Plus the little nine year old that they had singing was impressive as well.

The RBC, part (uhhhh I forget now!)

Yeah I think that at this point that I would be on a first name basis with someone at the student loan call center. At least today after 10 minutes of being as nasty as I could be I got a supervisor. Some how they could figure out with all the notes and side notes that the computer system is fucked up and that I should not worry about my credit rating. Well you know what, if you are going to take the time to send me a letter that states that they are sending my account to a collection agency and that my credit rating could be affected I am going to take you seriously and well of course I am going to angry and upset. I have done everything expected of me and have gotten 5 different answers about my case, it's no wonder that I am frustrated to the nines! Yeah it is going to be a fun weekend for me!

Getting geared up for Turino

Ok I am not a sports watching kind of girl, but I do enjoy watching the olympics. The last time they were on my mom and I enjoyed all sorts of events like short track speed skating, we thought it was kinda funny that there was an Austrailian guy that won because like 4 people crashed out! You just gotta love something like that.

So here in Canada for the last I don't know how many Olympics, Roots has been Canada's (not to mention some other countires) official outfitter. And lets face it they put out some pretty nice stuff. So when the games come around this year I was so excited, that is until... I find out that Roots is no longer supplying the Olympic team, HBC is, and well quite frankly, I am disappointed. I just hope that there are others out there that are too.

So instead of going out Friday night, I am staying in and watching the opening ceremony. Plus I have to get up rather early Saturday morning and head down to Calgary. Thank god for satellite and Canada's 5 timezones!

I think I have figured it out! I don't think that I am getting black listed now!

I have given the wonderful opportunity to be apart of Alberta Blogs. Special thanx to Aaron for hooking me up. It's nice to know that there are technologically gifted people out there that are willing to help those who are green!

I think that I am getting black listed!

I just checked out my statcounter and apparently someone from Ottawa spent over 42 mintues checking out my blog. I think that they are gathering evidence to take me in. Just let Max know that I love him and that he can have all the CD's!

I'm on the CBC!

Well the website that is. There is a videographer known as Stefan Randstrom who is originally from Finland who does special interest pieces for the CBC here in Canada. He pieces appear periodically on CBC News: Sunday. Anyways this past Sunday he did a piece on the Wife Carrying contest held in some remote town in Finland and the team from Canada that hoped to do well. It was a good laugh, and well I love the perspective. It reminds me of my father-in-law in all his little quirky glory. So to Stefan Randstrom keep up the good work and if you want do a story with me and my extended family, I'd be glad to do it and I will not subject you to my father-in-law's cooking. Read: no old crayfish, eggs, or salmon soup!

I swear I am gonna sue RBC!

These guys have been having all sorts of problems as of late. It's gonna get worse for them too. Their stupid automated system is still giving me grief. I got a phone call today. As soon as I was finished I called them back to just for the hell of it. The next thing I know I am going around in circles with this guy who could not catch the FREAKIN' hint that I have done everything that they have asked of me and still couldn't get a supervisior. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

One step closer to my degree!

I have just finished registering for my final two courses for my degree. There is a light and the end of the tunnel!! Now only to get this done and over with!!

Already Stephen Harper Has Fucked Up!

Ok the guy was sworn in yesterday and not even hours into it, he's fucked up. His platform was all about accountability and elimination of the culture of entitlement within government and that went out the fuckin window when he announced his cabinet. One guy crosses the floor and gets a cabinet position, and another... ISN'T EVEN AN ELECTED OFFICAL! That's it I am going to our HOT G-G and tell her that she better absolve parliament and get another election going because quite frankly this is absolute bullshit!

I got something!

Well I went for an interview yesterday. It was quick and concise, I think the whole thing lasted about 10 minutes. Anyways I got a call from my mom to call the office where I was interviewed at. I got the position. But get this, they called one of my references who in turn just called me and I guess the questioning that she was given was something else! But I am still looking so hopefully something will come up!

Does the average Albertan know who Busta Rhymes is?

Ok I am watching the news right now from Calgary on that little scroll thing at the bottom of the screen there is breaking news from New York. Busta Rhymes' bodyguard is slain! OH MY GOD!!!! MSN didn't pick this up but Global Calgary did! You can see where I am going with this one...

Still not in the mood, but what the hell!

So yeah. I actually have a job interview tomorrow for a survey job at school. It sounds pretty good actually and I am pretty sure that it will look alot better than Laundry Worker on my resume!
Speaking of my current job I am getting bored which means that I am getting creative at fucking around with co-workers. I don't mean in a sexual sense either because for christsakes I am happily married, even though I haven't seen my husband in over three months.
So I have started some fake rumors around about me, although it didn't spread as fast as I would have liked it. I have also teamed up with some other co-workers to get one of the "bullshit sluts" good. This one girl tries to string a mile long line of bullshit and she's not good at it. I tend to be more convincing!
By the way Max arrives in June for his summer visit. I won't publish the exact date for various reasons, one of which is that I want it to remain secret from certain people!
